GLOW Family Support

GLOW Family Support offers parents/caregivers an opportunity to become knowledgeable and empowered so that they can become more effective in meeting their families’ needs. Empowering families provides them with the ability to identify and build upon their families’ strengths and resources.

About this Program

GLOW Family Support offers parents/caregivers an opportunity to connect with other parents who have a child with a mental health, emotional, behavioral or social need and are encouraged to build natural community supports amongst themselves. Connecting with other parents/caregivers with similar needs can reduce the stress and stigma associated with raising a child with special challenges. GLOW helps to empower parents/caregivers to become more effective in meeting their family’s needs. Education and knowledge provides families with the ability to identify their strengths, needs and resources, and empowers them to move towards interdependence. GLOW offers support groups with respite care, advocacy, referral support, educational opportunities, information, a parent library and family activities.

Eligibility

Youth ages 5 to 18 years

This program is open to eligible residents of Genesee, Livingston, Orleans and Wyoming counties.
